Article 1, Section 5, Clause 1; each house judges whether its members are qualified. My change is that the president gets to choose whether the members are qualified. I think the founding fathers chose this clause because then the power would be in the branch of congress that it applies too. The positive effects of this change would be that the house could worry about other things than having to worry about if the members were qualified. So instead of the Legislative branch having to worry about whether the members are qualified, they can worry about creating laws. A negative thing about it could be that the president could have a bias for the person and just decide that he wants to kick them out of congress. So if the president was in the republican party, and didn't like one of the house of representative members because they were a democrat, he could decide to kick them out. Some justification could be that the president and his aids might have a better idea of who would make a better member. I do not agree with this change because it would take the power of the judges away from them, and give it too the president, who already has plenty of power. It also would allow the president to have bias about members views.
