Article 2, Section 2, Clause 2, says that two thirds of the senate has to approve to become a treaty with another nation. The change that I made to this clause was that all of senate has to approve of the treaty. I believe that the founding fathers made this decision because they knew that there would always be disagreement between people because everyone has different opinions. Some of the positive effects of the change would be smarter decisions about treaties would be made and it would prevent more wars, because if you make a treaty with a country, and it ends up not being a good decision, it could cause an outbreak in war. The negatives would be that it would take a really long time to get everyone to agree. Coming to a unanimous vote has always been a challenge, for example, in the constitutional convention, they figured out that they were never going to a decision, so they came up with the great compromise. Another Negative affect could be that someone could be trying to sabotage the vote. One example of sabotage was when it happened in class when we were choosing a radio station, we had to come to an unanimous vote for the station, I was told to vote against what everyone else was voting for so we would never come to a decision. I do not support this change because it would take too much time for everyone to agree and nothing would ever get done in a timely manor.
